Axel, an 8-year-old Labradoodle, came in for evaluation due to limping on his right hind leg. After examination, he was diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee.
Dr. Tracy performed TPLO (tibial plateau levelling osteotomy) surgery to stabilise the knee joint and allow a quick return to active lifestyles.
A post-operative X-ray of the knee incidentally revealed multiple stones in Axel’s bladder. At the time, he wasn’t showing any symptoms of bladder stones, such as blood in his urine, straining, difficulty urinating, or increased frequency.
The owner chose to monitor the condition and planned for surgery to remove the stones at a later date. Axel made a full recovery from the ACL surgery, and a few months later, Dr. Flora performed a successful cystotomy to remove multiple bladder stones.
